Large CHIMAYO RUG -
To the best of my understanding this is a rug made in Chamayo, New Mexico. This is a rug that belonged to the same lady that the product doll that we currently have listed belonged to. The rug was also her mother's rug. It to was bought sometime in the 1920's.
The two of us took it to the Denver Museum of Natural History to have them look at it. We thought it was a Navajo rug but the ladies at the museum thought it was a Chamayo rug. Soon they had their books out and found rugs that were very similar to this one. They felt this one was made some time between 1910 and 1930 and put a value on it at well over one thousand dollars.
This rug measures about 40"x88". It is a little darker green than the photos show. There is an ever so faint "fading" in the green at the top of the diamond that I tried to photograph. I think it shows up more in the photo than on the rug itself.
The price of this unique rug is $1,300.00. Please email me if you have any questions about this rug. Thank you for looking at my web page. Dick rdcark@aol.com
